India Deepens Anti-Terror Diplomacy in Seoul as Global Outreach Broadens Across Continents
India’s global diplomatic campaign continued to gain momentum this week as an all-party parliamentary delegation led by MP Sanjay Kumar Jha held high-level meetings in Seoul.
The engagements are part of India’s concerted international push to build a united front against terrorism, following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
In South Korea, the delegation met key figures including former Foreign Minister Dr. Yoon Young-kwan, former Vice Minister Cho Hyun, ex-ambassadors to India, and senior counter-terror officials.
India’s Ambassador to ROK, Amit Kumar, briefed the delegation on a Korea-specific diplomatic roadmap, which emphasizes India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism and outlines opportunities for deepening Indo-Korean cooperation in security, intelligence, and regional stability. The delegation also met with the Indian community in Seoul and reaffirmed the country's commitment to non-escalatory but firm responses to cross-border terrorism.
As the Seoul leg advanced, parallel diplomatic missions were underway across four continents. In New York, Congress MP and former UN diplomat Dr. Shashi Tharoor led a powerful outreach at the 9/11 Memorial. His remarks underscored India’s alignment with global victims of terror and called for collective memory to guide international accountability. That delegation has since moved to Guyana, where they are attending the nation’s 59th Independence Day celebrations while advancing bilateral security and cultural partnerships.
Meanwhile, Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand and India’s EAM Dr. S. Jaishankar held a constructive exchange in Ottawa, signaling a potential reset in ties strained over recent controversies. On a multilateral level, Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is leading the Indian delegation to the BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting in Brasรญlia, Brazil.
The summit is expected to strengthen cultural diplomacy among member nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa—while advocating for inclusive cultural growth and heritage protection across the Global South.
Elsewhere in the Gulf, another Indian delegation led by MP Baijayant Panda arrived in Kuwait. Joined by MPs including Asaduddin Owaisi and Ghulam Nabi Azad, the team emphasized India’s rejection of terror ideologies masked as religion. In Bahrain and Qatar, similar statements were received with affirmation, as counterparts reiterated their own zero-tolerance policies toward extremism.
In Europe, EAM Jaishankar has completed high-level meetings in Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark, reaffirming shared values with EU nations on terrorism, rule-based order, and regional multipolarity. His engagements have also addressed technological cooperation, defense, and the progress of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.
From Seoul to Sao Paulo, and New York to Kuwait City, India’s coordinated and bipartisan foreign policy narrative—articulated through multiple delegations and ministers—is increasingly being viewed as a credible response to global terror threats.
