Owaisi in Gulf Push Says Quran Misquoted by Terrorists, Backs India’s Anti-Terror Outreach

Members of India’s all-party parliamentary delegation visiting Bahrain under Operation Sindoor strongly condemned the misuse of religion by terrorist groups and called for greater international cooperation to dismantle cross-border terror networks. The delegation, led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda, is engaging with regional partners across Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria to present India’s position following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, addressing a high-level interaction in Manama, stated that extremist organisations have repeatedly distorted Islamic teachings to justify violence. “These groups misquote scripture to legitimise killing, but Islam condemns terrorism in all forms,” he said. “The Quran clearly states that taking one innocent life is equivalent to killing all of humanity.”

Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party, stressed the need for international platforms, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to back India’s efforts. “We’re not calling for the elimination of any country,” he said. “But Pakistan must dismantle its terrorist infrastructure and prosecute those responsible for repeated attacks.”

BJP MP Phangnon Konyak said that Pakistan has sustained its pattern of cross-border hostility since 1947 and must be held accountable. “Our request is that Bahrain use its voice to urge Pakistan to acknowledge its role and take responsibility. India’s position is clear—if provoked again, we will respond decisively,” she noted.

The delegation includes Nishikant Dubey, Phangnon Konyak, Rekha Sharma, Asaduddin Owaisi, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and Ambassador Harsh Vardhan Shringla. The visit follows recent Operation Sindoor missions to Japan, Germany, South Korea, Africa, and the United States.

India’s multi-nation diplomatic initiative seeks to build alignment on counterterrorism, isolate state-sponsored terror networks, and deliver a consistent message that religious justifications cannot be allowed to mask acts of violence against civilians.
