India Ramps Up Global Outreach as Pakistan Launches Regional Diplomatic Tour

As India continues its multi-nation diplomatic campaign under Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has announced a regional tour by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif beginning Sunday, May 25. The parallel diplomatic initiatives come amid heightened regional sensitivity following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, and reflect efforts by both countries to engage their respective international partners.

Sharif’s six-day itinerary includes visits to Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Tajikistan. The outreach is intended to reinforce ties with longstanding regional allies, with media in Islamabad describing it as part of a broader effort to “present Pakistan’s position on current regional challenges.”

Meanwhile, India’s Operation Sindoor diplomatic campaign has continued to expand across continents. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar recently concluded visits to Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands, holding strategic discussions on security, counterterrorism, and Indo-Pacific cooperation. His European engagements followed India’s participation in multilateral events and bilateral dialogues from Japan to Berlin.

Multiple Indian parliamentary delegations have been dispatched to countries such as South Korea, Russia, Africa, and Central Africa, conveying a unified message on terrorism, international cooperation, and people-to-people ties. The outreach has been reinforced by high-level cultural and policy participation, including India’s representation at the upcoming BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting in Brazil.

In contrast, a Pakistani delegation led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari—tasked with presenting Islamabad’s diplomatic case internationally—remains grounded in Pakistan as of Sunday, as confirmed by local media sources.

India’s outreach under Operation Sindoor was launched following the Pahalgam terror attack and includes multi-level engagement with foreign governments, diaspora, think tanks, and multilateral platforms. New Delhi has framed its messaging around the need for “zero tolerance” toward terrorism and the indivisibility of diplomatic dialogue and security accountability.

Observers note that both countries are now actively engaging with regional and global actors, albeit with different geographic scopes and diplomatic strategies. While India’s focus is visibly global, with engagements in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and Latin America, Pakistan’s tour appears aimed at consolidating traditional support in its immediate neighbourhood.

With both sides navigating complex geopolitical environments, the coming days will likely see intensified diplomatic activity, as India and Pakistan continue to advance their respective international narratives on security, partnership, and global cooperation.
