The visit to South Korea marks a continuation of India’s 33-nation diplomatic outreach launched in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives. Operation Sindoor aims to build international consensus around India’s stand against cross-border terrorism through sustained parliamentary and diplomatic engagements.

The delegation includes senior parliamentarians across the political spectrum: Abhishek Banerjee (Trinamool Congress), John Brittas (CPI-M), Aparajita Sarangi (BJP), Brij Lal (BJP), Pradan Baruah (BJP), Hemang Joshi (BJP), and Ambassador Mohan Kumar.

According to a post from the Embassy of India in Seoul, the briefing laid out a Korea-specific approach for upcoming meetings, emphasizing the theme of India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism. The delegation will engage with key stakeholders including South Korean foreign ministry officials, parliamentarians, research institutions, and the Indian diaspora.

The group arrived in Seoul after concluding a detailed set of meetings and commemorations in Japan, where they paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Rash Behari Bose on the eve of the latter’s birth anniversary. Their time in Tokyo, which began and ended with visits to memorial sites, underscored India’s commitment to drawing strength from its freedom movement as it frames a modern counterterror message. The Indian Embassy in Tokyo posted: “Never Forget, Never Forgive.”

India’s diplomatic strategy has seen synchronized outreach across regions. Parallel delegations have visited Germany, Congo, Qatar, Brazil, and the United States. The unified messaging has included formal interactions with foreign ministries, diaspora engagement, cultural diplomacy, and strategic briefings with global partners.

Operation Sindoor represents India’s post-Pahalgam shift in diplomatic posture—assertive in tone but structured through dialogue. The effort also complements India’s multilateral activities, including the upcoming BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting in Brazil, where cultural diplomacy and people-to-people linkages are being advanced alongside security concerns.

The Seoul leg is expected to include follow-up meetings through the week, as India continues its concerted outreach across Asia-Pacific and beyond, reaffirming its resolve to combat terrorism in all forms and build a globally consistent framework for accountability and cooperation.
