The delegation includes senior parliamentarians across political parties—Bhubaneswar Kalita (Rajya Sabha), Milind Murli Deora (Rajya Sabha), Shashank Mani Tripathi (Lok Sabha), Ganti Harish Madhur (Lok Sabha), and former ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu.

According to a press release by the Consulate General of India in New York, the delegation visited the National September 11 Memorial & Museum as a mark of remembrance for the victims of the 9/11 attacks. The visit symbolized India’s solidarity with the United States and reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the global fight against terrorism.

The visit to New York follows earlier Operation Sindoor stops in Japan, Germany, South Korea, Africa, and West Asia. It precedes upcoming engagements in Guyana, Panama, Brazil, and Colombia.

The delegation's mission is to communicate India’s unified political resolve in combating cross-border terrorism. The visit aims to strengthen international cooperation with key allies like the United States and emphasize the urgent need for stronger global frameworks to counter terrorism and disrupt support networks.

The group is engaging with prominent think tanks, academic institutions, and members of the U.S. media in New York to highlight the strategic India–U.S. partnership in counterterrorism efforts. The discussions focused on evolving security challenges, the threat of non-state actors, and global accountability for sponsors of terror.

“India stands resolute and united. Our message is consistent: there can be no tolerance, justification, or neutrality when it comes to terrorism,” Tharoor stated during one of the meetings, reiterating the delegation’s central theme.

This visit, official by India’s Ministry of External Affairs, is a continuation of India’s 33-nation diplomatic outreach launched after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. It seeks to deliver a clear message: terrorism cannot be viewed in isolation and requires coordinated international action.
