Supriya Sule-Led Delegation Secures Qatari Support on Anti-Terror Stand
The All-Party Indian Parliamentary Delegation led by Member of Parliament Supriya Sule concluded its Qatar leg of a four-nation diplomatic mission on Monday. The visit marks a vital step in India's coordinated global outreach against terrorism in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor.

During the two-day visit, the delegation held high-level talks with key Qatari officials including Dr. Mohamed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of State for Interior Affairs. They also met Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, and engaged with members of the Middle East Council for Global Affairs and Qatari media houses such as Al Sharq and Peninsula.
The delegation firmly stated India’s stance of zero tolerance towards cross-border terrorism. Members underscored that Operation Sindoor was a proportionate, targeted response to a barbaric terror act, designed to neutralize infrastructure supporting terrorism while avoiding escalation. They emphasized the imperative of dismantling the decades-old cross-border terror ecosystem used against India.
The Government of Qatar, which had issued a public condemnation of the Pahalgam attack on April 23, restated its own zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. Qatari dignitaries acknowledged the threat posed by terrorism globally and emphasized the importance of standing united against it. The Indian delegation expressed appreciation for this solidarity.
On May 6, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani had a telephone conversation. That was followed by a call between Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Jassim Al-Thani on May 7 — further anchoring this visit in a broader trajectory of bilateral alignment on security and peace.
In interactions with the Indian diaspora in Qatar, the delegation praised the community for promoting India’s core values of pluralism, tolerance, and unity — particularly amid attempts to disrupt India’s social fabric via external interference.
The visit to Qatar is the first of four planned stops by the Indian delegation, which will now travel to South Africa, Ethiopia, and Egypt. These missions form part of India's larger anti-terror diplomacy offensive, with parallel delegations currently active across Europe, Africa, and the Americas — from New York to Paris to Ljubljana.
This calibrated global messaging by India — emphasising peace, rule of law, and coordinated counter-terror action — is seen as reshaping the global narrative, pushing back against any normalization of terrorism, and building consensus among global stakeholders.
