India Seeks Singapore’s Multilateral Support Against Terror
India’s strategic diplomatic push to build global consensus against terrorism reached a significant milestone in Southeast Asia as an All-Party Parliamentary Delegation led by MP Sanjay Kumar Jha met with Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs, Sim Ann, today in the island nation.

The Indian delegation briefed the Singaporean leadership on the sequence of events following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, and India’s response under Operation Sindoor. Sanjay Kumar Jha explained India’s “new normal” doctrine in counter-terrorism, emphasising that the operation was precise, proportionate, and non-escalatory, undertaken strictly against terrorist infrastructure without targeting civilians or state apparatus.
The delegation comprised parliamentarians from multiple parties, demonstrating India’s unified political stance on terrorism. Members underscored that the Pahalgam attack was an orchestrated attempt to derail peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir, and that India would henceforth take decisive and calibrated action against any threats that emanate from across its borders.
“The message is clear: there can be no distinction between terrorists and their sponsors. India will respond swiftly and decisively. Nuclear blackmail will no longer shield those who abet terror,” a delegation member was quoted as saying during the closed-door exchange.
In turn, Singapore’s Senior Minister of State Sim Ann stated her country’s “unequivocal condemnation of all acts of terrorism”, and expressed solidarity with India’s position. She further noted that as close partners with strong trade and defence ties, Singapore and India would continue to work together on regional stability, counter-terrorism frameworks, and multilateral platforms such as the United Nations and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
India and Singapore have a long-standing history of collaboration on security and strategic issues, and this visit builds on a foundation of trust and mutual respect. With India advancing its diplomatic mission through Operation Sindoor, this meeting marks a critical juncture in aligning Southeast Asian democracies in the fight against global terrorism.
