India Secures Strong Anti-Terror Support from Congo During High-Level Delegation Visit
In a significant display of international consensus against terrorism, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) extended unambiguous support to India's zero-tolerance approach during the visit of an Indian all-party parliamentary delegation to Kinshasa from May 25–27.
Led by Dr. Shrikant Eknath Shinde, Member of Parliament, the delegation engaged in a series of high-level meetings with senior Congolese leadership. These included discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Therese Kayikwamba Wagner, Speaker of the National Assembly Vital Kamerhe, and President of the Senate Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde Kyenge.

According to sources from the Indian Embassy in Kinshasa, the DRC's top leadership conveyed deep condolences to the families of victims of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and condemned the incident in unequivocal terms. They reiterated that terrorism, regardless of its justification, poses a global threat and called for united global action to counter it.
The Indian side outlined the sequence of events following the attack, particularly Operation Sindoor — India’s measured and proportionate military response targeting cross-border terrorist infrastructure. Dr. Shinde conveyed that the operation was an example of India’s “New Normal” policy that seeks not only justice for victims but also deterrence against future provocations. He stated, “India does not distinguish between terrorists and their state sponsors. Our response has been precise and proportional — aimed solely at terrorist infrastructure.”
The Speaker of the National Assembly Vital Kamerhe expressed solidarity with India, stating the people of Congo stand shoulder to shoulder with Indians in these challenging times. Senate President Jean-Michel Lukonde further reinforced the shared objective of global peace and the elimination of terror.
Foreign Minister Wagner welcomed India’s decision to share intelligence and evidence regarding the Pahalgam attack and assured that the DRC would support India's anti-terror position in multilateral platforms, including the United Nations and other African Union forums.
The delegation concluded its visit with a vibrant interaction with the Indian diaspora in Kinshasa. Discussions centered on India’s counter-terrorism policy and how international partnerships are critical in facing such transnational threats. The diaspora was praised for acting as a bridge between the two nations and contributing meaningfully to the local economy and bilateral goodwill.
