The delegation is led by Sanjay Kumar Jha (MP, Rajya Sabha) and includes a diverse group of legislators and diplomats: Aparajita Sarangi (Lok Sabha); Abhishek Banerjee (Lok Sabha); Brij Lal (Rajya Sabha); John Brittas (Rajya Sabha); Pradan Baruah (Lok Sabha); Hemang Joshi (Lok Sabha); Salman Khurshid (Former External Affairs Minister); Mohan Kumar (Former Ambassador to France and Bahrain); Pooja Tillu (Deputy High Commissioner, Singapore).
During its engagements in Jakarta, officials said, the Indian delegation led by MP Sanjay Kumar Jha met with Muhammad Husein Fadlulloh, Vice-Chairperson of the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation, and Muhammad Rofiqi, Chairperson of the Indonesia-India Parliamentary Friendship Group, to apprise them of India’s firm and unified stance against terrorism.
The Indonesian leaders, according to well-placed sources expressed unequivocal condemnation of terrorism, affirming that dialogue—not violence—is the legitimate path to resolving disputes. They conveyed strong support for India’s zero-tolerance policy, emphasizing that terrorism is a crime against humanity and must be confronted globally with consistency and cooperation.
According to embassy officials in Jakarta, the delegation will engage with Indonesian government representatives, political parties, ASEAN Secretariat leadership, think tanks, resident diplomats, academia, and the Indian diaspora over the next four days. A core focus is India’s policy of zero-tolerance to terrorism and the establishment of a “new normal” where precise, non-escalatory responses like Operation Sindoor serve as a firm deterrent.
Indonesia, as a strategic member of ASEAN and a vital pillar in India’s Act East policy, plays an important role in India’s regional security calculus. The delegation’s visit is expected to build synergy on multilateral counterterrorism frameworks and foster deeper collaboration on regional peace, especially in light of India’s ongoing diplomatic campaigns across New York, France, South Korea, Congo, Qatar, and Latin America.
India’s mission, underscored repeatedly by the delegation, is to convey a united democratic front—across party lines—against terrorism, while engaging constructively with nations that have expressed early and consistent solidarity. Indonesia’s position as a Muslim-majority democracy and ASEAN’s largest economy lends additional geopolitical heft to this outreach.
Meetings are scheduled with ASEAN Secretary General, senior parliamentarians, media leaders, and policy experts in the coming days, capping a week that has witnessed India project diplomatic resolve on a continental scale.
