India Strengthens Anti-Terrorism Consensus with Slovenia During High-Level Parliamentary Visit
As part of India’s ongoing diplomatic outreach following Operation Sindoor, a multi-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, MP, arrived in Slovenia on May 25, 2025, for a series of high-level engagements aimed at bolstering cooperation on counter-terrorism.

Members of the delegation included MPs Rajeev Kumar Rai, Capt. Brijesh Chowta, Prem Chand Gupta, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, and former Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri. The group was received by Ambassador Amit Narang, who briefed them on the warm and cooperative India–Slovenia bilateral relationship, with Slovenia currently serving as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
According to diplomatic sources in Ljubljana, the delegation met key Slovenian officials including Predrag Bakovic, Chair of the Foreign Policy Committee of the National Assembly, and Miroslav Gregoric of the India-Slovenia Parliamentary Friendship Group. They also held talks with Vojko Volk, State Secretary and National Security Coordinator, and Barbara Zvokelj, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
In their briefings, the Indian delegation presented India's zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and explained the measured and targeted response of Operation Sindoor following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The Slovenian leadership expressed strong solidarity, categorically condemning the attack and referring to terrorism as “a modern-day cancer” that demands unified global action.
In addition to formal meetings, the Indian delegation addressed Slovenian media representatives, delivering India’s message of unity and resolve in fighting terrorism. Reports suggest that the message resonated deeply with the press and civil society stakeholders.
The day concluded with a reception hosted by Ambassador Narang, where the delegation interacted with academics, business leaders, think tank representatives, and the Indian diaspora. The engagements will continue in Ljubljana before the delegation proceeds to its next destination.
