An all-party parliamentary delegation from India led by Dr. Shashi Tharoor has arrived in Guyana as part of India’s ongoing Operation Sindoor diplomatic outreach. The delegation is scheduled to engage with senior Guyanese leadership and attend the country’s 59th Independence Day celebrations in Berbice.

The visit marks the next leg of India’s multi-nation campaign to promote global consensus on zero tolerance for terrorism and highlight India’s unified political will in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

The delegation includes prominent MPs from both Houses of Parliament: Dr. Sarfraz Ahmad, Ganti Harish Madhur, Shashank Mani Tripathi, Bhubaneswar Kalita, Milind Murli Deora, Tejasvi Surya, and Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu, former Indian envoy to the U.S. and Sri Lanka.

According to the High Commission of India in Georgetown, the delegation will hold strategic discussions with Guyanese officials, media representatives, the Indian diaspora, and civil society stakeholders. These engagements will focus on strengthening India–Guyana bilateral ties while reinforcing India's global stance against terrorism in all forms.

Speaking before the visit, Dr. Tharoor emphasized the importance of people-to-people diplomacy and regional solidarity: “We are here to underline India’s message of unity and its firm resolve to stand against terrorism.”

The delegation’s arrival in Guyana follows earlier Operation Sindoor missions to Japan, Germany, Bahrain, New York, and Central Africa, where Indian MPs have been engaging global leaders, diaspora groups, and media to present India’s position on cross-border terrorism and regional security.

The Guyana visit is expected to further boost cultural and diplomatic ties while reaffirming shared democratic values between the two countries.
