π‘️ CDS Reviews Northern and Western Commands Amid Diplomatic Offensive
Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan conducted a high-level operational review of the Indian Army’s Northern Command in Udhampur, Jammu & Kashmir and Western Command in Chandimandir, Haryana, two primary locations that led military operations under Operation Sindoor.
During the visit, Gen. Chauhan was briefed by Lt Gen Pratik Sharma and Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar on both kinetic and non-kinetic measures executed to neutralize terror networks and blunt hostile provocations on the northern and western frontiers. He also assessed real-time situational preparedness, logistics upgrades, and post-operation humanitarian rehabilitation, especially for border-area civilians affected by enemy targeting.

The Northern Command presented its operational achievements in dismantling cross-border terror infrastructure and stabilizing border areas in Jammu & Kashmir. The Western Command provided a detailed overview of retaliatory responses along the Punjab front, highlighting enhanced military capability through technological infusion and integrated logistics.
This high-level military review aligns with India’s concurrent diplomatic offensive across international capitals. From Bahrain, where MPs emphasized India’s interfaith unity against terror, to South Korea, where strategic doctrine was shared with key security counterparts, and New York, where India drew global attention at the 9/11 Memorial — India’s civilian and military arms are moving in coordinated stride under the banner of Operation Sindoor.
General Chauhan praised the valor, precision, and synergy of both Commands, lauding the timely execution of objectives under “extremely challenging operational conditions.” He emphasized the importance of jointness across services and continuous vigilance to meet evolving hybrid threats from both state and non-state actors.
Remembering those who made the supreme sacrifice during the operation, the CDS concluded by reaffirming the Indian Army’s central role in preserving national sovereignty and security. He also encouraged continued efforts in civilian rehabilitation and veteran welfare, underscoring a full-spectrum approach to national defence — both kinetic and compassionate.
