According to an official statement from @IndiaCoastGuard, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Mumbai received a distress alert from the vessel late Friday evening. The container ship had departed Vizhinjam Port on May 23 and was en route to Kochi, with an expected arrival time of May 24.

ICG units responded swiftly, deploying aircraft for aerial surveillance and coordinating rescue efforts with merchant vessels in the vicinity. Additional liferafts were deployed by air to aid the remaining crew still aboard the listing vessel.

The Directorate General of Shipping, working in coordination with the ICG, has issued immediate directives to the ship’s managers to begin salvage operations aimed at stabilizing the vessel and averting potential environmental risks.

“The ICG continues to monitor the situation closely to ensure full crew safety and prevent any marine pollution,” the agency said, adding that further rescue and stabilization efforts remain underway.
