In a key meeting, Jaishankar met with Dr. Gรผnter Sautter, Foreign and Security Policy Advisor to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Their discussion centered on global security issues, with a particular focus on counter-terrorism cooperation and maintaining global stability. “Our deepening partnership is an important factor of stability in an uncertain world,” Jaishankar stated, emphasizing mutual efforts to strengthen resilience and build trust in international relations.

Jaishankar also called on Chancellor Friedrich Merz, conveying Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s best wishes and reaffirming India’s commitment to deepening the bilateral strategic partnership. He appreciated Germany’s strong solidarity with India in its fight against terrorism, underlining shared values and converging security priorities.

Earlier, Jaishankar held a meeting with Economy and Energy Minister Katherina Reiche. The discussion focused on enhancing talent mobility, industrial collaboration, and building resilient supply chains through joint innovation and co-investment frameworks.

These engagements are part of New Delhi’s multi-pronged outreach across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, aimed at generating coordinated international momentum to combat cross-border terrorism and counter disinformation campaigns. Germany, a key partner under the India-Germany Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC), remains central to India’s vision of a rules-based global order.

The outcomes from Berlin are expected to shape upcoming multilateral discussions, particularly on counter-terror financing, cybersecurity frameworks, and emerging economic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and EU corridors.
