Indian Delegation Pays Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi Amid Global Outreach

In a symbolic and strategic gesture, an Indian All-Party Parliamentary Delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde paid floral tributes at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, honouring the enduring ideals of peace, tolerance, and non-violence.

The homage to Mahatma Gandhi marked a solemn reaffirmation of India’s commitment to Gandhian values, even as it intensifies a worldwide diplomatic effort to counter terrorism following Operation Sindoor, India’s recent counter-terror operation in Pahalgam.

Earlier, the delegation held a key meeting with UAE’s Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. Described by officials as "fruitful," the dialogue saw both sides reiterate their shared commitment to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, while also reinforcing bilateral cooperation in the spheres of tolerance and peacebuilding.

The delegation includes prominent lawmakers from across the political spectrum: BJP MPs Bansuri Swaraj and Atul Garg, Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra, IUML MP E.T. Mohammed Basheer, BJD MP Sasmit Patra, former Union Minister S.S. Ahluwalia, and Ambassador Sujan Chinoy.

This visit to the UAE is part of a broader diplomatic initiative involving seven multi-party delegations visiting 33 countries. The campaign aims to convey India’s post-Operation Sindoor stance on terrorism, build international understanding of its counterterrorism objectives, and foster solidarity with global partners amid rising transnational threats.

The UAE stop underscores the growing strategic and cultural ties between New Delhi and Abu Dhabi, particularly in matters of peace, pluralism, and regional security.
