India Secures Slovenia's Backing on Terror Fight Under Kanimozhi-Led Delegation

India’s high-intensity global diplomatic drive under Operation Sindoor reached Slovenia this week, with a powerful all-party delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi delivering India’s unequivocal message of zero tolerance toward cross-border terrorism. The visit, which builds upon recent stops in Berlin, Kuwait, and Guyana, adds to a crescendo of international pressure on states and networks supporting terrorism.

Kanimozhi, joined by MPs Rajeev Rai, Brijesh Singh, P.C. Gupta, Dr. Ashok K. Mittal, and former Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri, was received in Ljubljana by Ambassador Amit Narang. The Indian Embassy organised an in-depth briefing on India-Slovenia ties, emphasizing shared values and Slovenia’s crucial role as a current non-permanent member of the UN Security Council — particularly in discussions on international peace and counter-terrorism policy.

In their formal engagements, the Indian delegation met with Predrag Baković, Chairperson of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Slovenian National Assembly, and Miroslav Gregorič of the India-Slovenia Parliamentary Friendship Group. Sources present at the meetings described them as “cordial, focused, and geopolitically charged,” as India raised the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and presented documentary evidence of Pakistan-based orchestration.

Slovenian lawmakers responded in firm alignment with New Delhi’s position. According to an official statement from the Indian Embassy, Slovenia condemned terrorism as “pure evil” and reiterated that it must be countered globally with absolute clarity.

Observers note that this vocal support from a European democracy currently seated on the UNSC adds diplomatic heft to India’s campaign to isolate state sponsors of terrorism.

India is leading one of the most coordinated diplomatic offensives in recent history — with parallel missions in Congo, Panama, New York, and Seoul — the Slovenia leg adds momentum to a layered, multilateral campaign designed not just to name and shame perpetrators, but to build a long-term global consensus for counter-terror action at the UN, FATF, and other international forums.

The delegation also conveyed India’s deep appreciation for Slovenia’s principled approach to international law, rules-based global order, and its support for democratic unity in countering violent extremism.
