Abhishek Banerjee Highlights India–Korea Anti-Terror Resolve and Cultural Bonds in Seoul
All-Party Parliamentary Delegation member and Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee participated in a series of high-level engagements in Seoul on Monday. The delegation’s first day of outreach began with a detailed briefing from Ambassador Amit Kumar, who outlined the roadmap for India’s diplomatic objectives in South Korea.

Banerjee noted that the engagements underscored India’s “unflinching commitment to combat terrorism globally,” reflecting the delegation’s consistent message across diplomatic missions in New York, Qatar, Bahrain, and Germany.
In addition to diplomatic discussions, the delegation engaged with some of Korea’s top strategic thinkers, including former vice ministers, ambassadors, and scholars from leading think tanks. The dialogue focused on multilateral responses to terrorism, regional peace mechanisms, and shared challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
Banerjee’s intervention at one such dialogue drew attention for weaving geopolitics with cultural memory. Referring to Rabindranath Tagore’s 1929 poem “The Lamp of the East”—widely cherished in Korea—he emphasized the enduring civilizational links between the two nations. “It is a matter of great pride that Tagore’s words are still taught in Korean schools and remain embedded in their textbooks even today,” he said.
Tagore’s poetic tribute to Korea as a “sleeping nation” that would one day “rise to shine in the light of the East” continues to serve as a symbol of India–Korea cultural solidarity, especially in times of regional and global instability. Banerjee added, “Together, we reaffirm our shared values of peace, resilience, and justice in the face of global threats.”
The delegation’s Seoul engagements mark a diplomatic milestone in Operation Sindoor’s Indo-Pacific leg. The outreach follows public engagements with diaspora communities and civil society groups in Tokyo and Seoul, as India continues to build a broad-based international alignment against terrorism.
