Polish PM Tusk Confirms Weapons Used as Poland Responds to Airspace Violations; NATO On High Alert

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed Thursday that the military has used weapons in an ongoing operation responding to “multiple violations” of Polish airspace.

In a post on X, Tusk said: “An operation is underway related to multiple violations of Polish airspace. The military used armaments against the objects. I am in constant contact with the President and the Minister of Defense. I received a direct report from the operational commander.”

The remarks follow an earlier statement from the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, which said drones had crossed into Poland during Russia’s overnight strikes on Ukraine.

The command reported that ground-based defenses were deployed and urged civilians in Podlaskie, Mazowieckie, and Lubelskie voivodeships to remain indoors as forces worked to identify and neutralize the objects.

NATO aircraft are also active in Polish skies, with Warsaw maintaining its forces at the highest readiness as the operation continues.

This is a developing story.
