Indian Army Pays Tribute to Gallantry Awardees and Fallen Soldiers
In a moving ceremony at the Manekshaw Centre, the Indian Army honoured its brave soldiers and their families at the Defence Investiture Ceremony 2025 (Phase-1). The event recognised the courage of gallantry awardees and remembered the ultimate sacrifice made by those who laid down their lives in service to the nation.

General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, and Mrs. Sunita Dwivedi, President of the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), met with the awardees, Veer Naris (war widows), and the families of fallen soldiers. The interaction was marked by warmth, gratitude, and deep respect.
During the ceremony, General Dwivedi presented the Badge of Sacrifice and Certificate of Honour to the Next of Kin (NoK) of soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty. He expressed heartfelt solidarity with the families, assuring them of the Army’s continued support. “We salute the supreme sacrifice of your loved ones,” he said.
The Indian Army reaffirmed its strong commitment to the values of honour, duty, and sacrifice. Officials emphasized that every fallen hero will be remembered with dignity, and that their stories of bravery will continue to inspire generations.
