Calls Grow for Halt to Energy Infrastructure Strikes After Iran, Qatar, UAE Gas Facilities Hit in Rapidly Escalating War
French President Emmanuel Macron said he had spoken with the Emir of Qatar and U.S. President Donald Trump following strikes on major gas production facilities in Iran and Qatar, and urged an immediate halt to attacks on civilian infrastructure as the Iran war expands into critical global energy systems.

The appeal comes after Israeli strikes targeted Iran’s South Pars gasfield — the world’s largest natural gas reserve — and Iranian missile strikes hit Qatar’s Ras Laffan industrial city, home to one of the world’s largest liquefied natural gas production hubs. The twin attacks marked a significant escalation in the conflict, bringing core energy infrastructure directly into the battlefield.
French President said the protection of civilian needs and global supply systems must be prioritized, as the war increasingly threatens energy flows that underpin international markets. Macron stressed that “civilian populations and their essential needs, as well as the security of energy supplies, must be protected from military escalation.”
As IndianRepublic.in reported earlier, the Iran war has entered a new phase targeting energy infrastructure across the Gulf, raising fears of sustained disruption to oil and gas supplies and amplifying risks to the Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly one-fifth of global energy flows transit.
The latest diplomatic outreach shows mounting concern among global leaders that continued strikes on energy facilities could trigger broader economic shockwaves, particularly if the conflict further disrupts liquefied natural gas exports from Qatar or gas production in Iran.
