Epic Fury: Trump Says US Hit Hundreds of Targets in Iran, Vows ‘Most Punishing Blow’ as War Escalates to Middle East

U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington and its allies had carried out one of the largest coordinated military offensives in recent history, announcing that “Operation Epic Fury” had struck hundreds of targets across Iran as fighting between Iran, Israel and U.S. forces intensified and widened regional instability.

Speaking after more than 24 hours of sustained operations, Trump said the campaign targeted “Revolutionary Guard facilities” and Iranian air-defence systems and confirmed that U.S. forces had destroyed multiple naval assets, stating that American strikes had “knocked out nine ships plus their naval building… all in a matter of literally minutes.”

The announcement came as combat operations continued across several theatres in the Middle East, with missile exchanges, airstrikes and retaliatory attacks reported across Israel and Gulf states.

Trump said the offensive followed joint U.S.–Israeli military action that killed Iran’s supreme leader and dismantled sections of Iran’s senior military command structure, describing the campaign as an effort to eliminate threats posed by Iran’s missile capabilities and potential nuclear ambitions.

He said operations were ongoing and would continue “until all of our objectives are achieved,” adding that some Iranian officials were allegedly seeking surrender or immunity.

During the address, the president confirmed that three U.S. service members had been killed during the operation, calling them “true American patriots” and acknowledging that further casualties remained possible as combat persisted.

He framed the campaign as a response to what he described as decades of attacks against U.S. interests and allies, arguing that preventing Iran from acquiring advanced weapons systems was central to the military action.

The speech underscored Washington’s alignment with Israel during the expanding conflict and signalled no immediate pause in military activity.

Trump said American and Israeli resolve “has never been stronger,” while urging Iranian military personnel to lay down arms and calling on Iranian citizens seeking political change to act.

The remarks came amid continuing airstrikes, missile interceptions and regional security alerts, as governments across the Middle East closed airspace, reinforced military readiness and warned civilians to seek shelter.

Analysts say the scale and rhetoric surrounding Operation Epic Fury suggest a transition from limited strikes toward a broader strategic confrontation, raising concerns about prolonged conflict, regional spillover and global economic disruption as diplomatic efforts remain uncertain.

Across the region, the conflict has rapidly expanded beyond Iran and Israel, triggering missile and drone exchanges that have affected multiple Middle Eastern countries hosting U.S. forces or strategic infrastructure.

Iranian retaliatory strikes have targeted military installations as well as areas near major civilian hubs, disrupting airports, shipping routes and commercial air travel, while air-defence systems have been activated repeatedly across Israel and Gulf states.

Several governments issued shelter advisories, closed airspace and suspended diplomatic or consular operations as security risks escalated and civilians sought refuge during overnight attacks.

The escalation has also begun reshaping the geopolitical landscape, with global powers taking sharply different positions. Western allies have reinforced defensive postures and urged de-escalation, while Russia and China have criticised the strikes and called for diplomatic intervention.

Oil markets, maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and international aviation routes have all faced disruption, highlighting the conflict’s potential global economic impact.
