In a statement posted by the Israeli Air Force, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that missiles had been detected heading toward Israel and that interception systems were operating to neutralize the incoming threat. The military said emergency alerts were transmitted directly to mobile phones in affected regions through the Home Front Command’s warning system, instructing residents to immediately enter protected spaces and remain there until further notice.

Authorities emphasized that civilians must follow official directives strictly, warning that leaving shelters without explicit clearance could put lives at risk. The Home Front Command said residents should remain inside secure areas even after initial interception activity until updated instructions are issued, reflecting concerns over follow-up strikes or falling debris from intercepted missiles.

The alert came as Israel continues to face repeated missile and drone barrages following joint U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran that triggered a wider regional confrontation. Air defense networks, including layered interception systems, have been operating at high intensity across multiple cities, with sirens and emergency notifications becoming routine in several parts of the country.

Officials did not immediately release details on damage or casualties from the latest launches, but emergency services remained on standby nationwide as interception operations continued.

The latest missile alerts come amid a rapidly widening regional confrontation triggered by joint U.S.–Israeli strikes on Iran that killed senior Iranian leadership figures and damaged multiple military facilities.

Since then, Iran has launched retaliatory missile and drone attacks targeting Israel as well as locations across the Gulf region hosting U.S. military assets, while Israeli forces have continued air operations against Iranian government and military infrastructure. The escalating exchange has raised fears of a prolonged multi-front conflict stretching across the Middle East.

The conflict has already disrupted civilian life and critical infrastructure across several countries. Airspace closures have halted flights across major regional hubs including Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi, global shipping routes near the Strait of Hormuz have faced heightened risk, and multiple governments have issued security advisories urging citizens to shelter in place.

Missile interceptions and falling debris have caused casualties and damage beyond primary targets, underscoring the growing spillover risks for neighbouring states.

Diplomatic efforts to contain the crisis remain uncertain as world leaders call for de-escalation while military operations continue. Iran has begun a political transition process following the leadership vacuum created by the strikes, Israel has mobilised additional reservists and strengthened civil defence measures, and international powers including the United States, European nations, Russia and China are increasingly drawn into the crisis through military coordination, warnings or diplomatic pressure, signalling a volatile phase with significant global security and economic implications.
