Trump’s Ceasefire Under Strain as Israel Accuses Iran of Immediate Violation

A ceasefire deal brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump between Israel and Iran is already under severe strain. 

Just hours after both sides agreed to halt 12 days of fighting, Israel accused Iran of violating the ceasefire by firing missiles well after the agreed deadline.

The ceasefire was announced after Iran launched a final heavy missile barrage early Tuesday, killing at least four in Israel. 

In response, Israel conducted sweeping overnight airstrikes on dozens of Iranian targets, including missile sites in Tehran.

But shortly after the ceasefire took effect, Israel’s military detected fresh Iranian missile launches. 

Sirens sounded in northern Israel as air defenses intercepted incoming rockets. No injuries were reported in this post-ceasefire salvo.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz condemned the violation, stating Iran had “completely violated” the ceasefire agreement by firing more than two hours after it came into force. 

He ordered Israeli forces to resume strikes on Iranian military and government positions.

President Trump, who had declared the “12 Day War” over, now faces serious questions about the durability of the truce he brokered. 

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich posted pointedly: “Tehran will tremble.”

The situation remains highly volatile, with both sides having exchanged hundreds of missiles and drone strikes since Israel’s initial attack on Iranian nuclear sites triggered the conflict.
