Born in a Santali family in Odisha’s Rairangpur in 1958, Droupadi Murmu has risen through years of public service—from a school teacher to Odisha’s minister, Jharkhand’s longest-serving governor, and now India’s 15th President since 2022. She is the country’s first tribal president, second woman president, and the youngest ever to hold the office. Her life, marked by personal struggles, remains an example of quiet resilience and spiritual fortitude.
