After reviewing military operations with the army’s chief of staff, Katz said Iran would face severe consequences for targeting Israeli civilians. His remarks followed extensive Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure that killed several top scientists and military leaders.

Iranian state television reported that air defenses engaged incoming threats over Khorramabad, Kermanshah, and Tabriz, where black smoke was seen rising. An Israeli military official said operations against Iran would continue.

Israeli forces employed warplanes, drones, and pre-positioned assets inside Iran to hit key targets. According to Israeli military statements, nine senior scientists tied to Iran's nuclear program were killed. Iran's U.N. ambassador reported 78 deaths and over 320 injuries.

In response, Iran launched waves of drones and ballistic missiles at Israeli cities, with explosions lighting up the skies over Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The Israeli military advised civilians to seek shelter amid ongoing strikes.

Meanwhile, talks between Iran and the U.S. on a nuclear accord, scheduled for Sunday in Oman, face uncertainty. Iran's Foreign Ministry called the discussions "meaningless" after Israel's strikes, though no formal cancellation was announced.

Both sides have signaled that further military actions are imminent, raising fears of a prolonged regional conflict.
