India Welcomes Ceasefire in West Asia, Urges Dialogue to Resolve All Conflicts

India has welcomed reports of the ceasefire between Iran and Israel while voicing deep concern over the ongoing conflict in West Asia. In an official statement issued Tuesday, the Ministry of External Affairs said it has been closely monitoring the developments, including U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites and Iran’s retaliatory missile attack on U.S. military bases in Qatar.

“We welcome reports of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel and the role played by the US and Qatar in bringing it about,” the statement read. However, it underscored continuing concerns about long-term regional security and stability.

India reaffirmed its consistent call for dialogue and diplomacy, stressing that there is “no alternative” to peaceful negotiations to address and resolve the multiple conflicts in the region. “India stands ready to play its part in these efforts,” the statement added, expressing hope that all parties will work towards sustained peace.

The conflict, triggered by strikes on Iranian facilities, escalated into a 12-day exchange of missile and drone strikes drawing in the U.S., before a fragile ceasefire was brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Despite violations reported by both sides, Washington insists the truce remains intact.

India has also been conducting large-scale evacuations under Operation Sindhu, bringing home over 2,500 nationals from Iran and Israel amid the hostilities.
