Air India announced Tuesday that it will gradually resume flights to West Asia as regional airspace begins to reopen following the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran.

The airline stated that most Middle East operations are expected to restart from June 25.

Flights to Europe, previously suspended due to conflict-related airspace closures, are now being progressively reinstated. Services to the U.S. East Coast and Canada will resume as soon as conditions permit, the airline said, while cautioning that some flights may still face delays, cancellations, or extended routes due to ongoing safety assessments.

"Air India will continue to avoid any airspace currently assessed as unsafe," the airline spokesperson confirmed, emphasizing that efforts remain focused on minimizing disruptions and restoring full operations.

The phased resumption follows the fragile ceasefire brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump, ending 12 days of intense conflict that saw Iran and Israel exchange missile and drone strikes after attack on Iranian sites.

Iran’s retaliatory strike on a U.S. military base in Qatar further escalated the crisis before the ceasefire took effect.

India has simultaneously continued its large-scale evacuation under Operation Sindhu, which has now brought back over 2,500 Indian nationals from Iran and Israel amid the ongoing tensions.
