What We Know: Red Fort Blast Kills 8 in India's Capital; Delhi on High Alert, Investigation Launched

A devastating blast has occurred near the Red Fort in Delhi on Monday evening, November 10, 2025, leaving at least eight people dead and 24 injured. 

The explosion happened in a parked car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, triggering a massive response from authorities.

The blast was powerful, causing three to four vehicles to catch fire and sustaining damage. The windows of nearby vehicles were shattered, and the area was quickly cordoned off. 

Seven fire tenders were rushed to the scene, and a team from the Delhi Police Special Cell was also deployed.

The injured were taken to LNJP Hospital, where three people are reportedly in serious condition. The Delhi Police has restricted entry and exit from Gate No. 1 and 4 of the Lal Qila Metro Station.

The Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a historic Mughal fort and a prominent tourist destination in Delhi. It served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors and is known for its stunning architecture, combining Persian and Indian styles.

The incident comes on the heels of a major anti-terror breakthrough, where 2,900 kg of bomb-making material and ammonium nitrate were seized from doctors linked to a medical college in Haryana's Faridabad.

Authorities have sounded a high alert in Delhi, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blast. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is being sent to the scene.
