Trump Declares Israel and Hamas Have Agreed to First Phase of Peace Plan, Hostage Release and Troop Withdrawal to Follow

In what could mark a turning point in one of the most intractable conflicts in modern history, U.S. President Donald J. Trump announced that both Israel and Hamas have formally signed off on the first phase of his Middle East peace plan.

“I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan,” Trump posted on his social media platform, calling it a “Historic and Unprecedented Event.”

Trump Declares Israel and Hamas Have Agreed to First Phase of Peace Plan, Hostage Release and Troop Withdrawal to Follow
Israel and Hamas have formally signed off on the first phase of his Middle East peace plan.
According to Trump, the deal ensures that “ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon,” referencing the hundreds of Israeli civilians and soldiers held captive by Hamas since the October 7 attacks.

In return, “Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace.”

Trump’s language emphasized fairness and inclusivity, stating, “All Parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America.”

The announcement thanked key mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who played critical roles in finalizing the first phase of the agreement.

This statement comes days after Trump unveiled a sweeping 21-point framework co-developed with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

That blueprint proposed a phased ceasefire, hostage-prisoner exchanges, the disarmament of Hamas, and a radical reconstruction of Gaza under international supervision.

The initial agreement confirmed today appears to unlock some of the most urgent aspects of that roadmap—namely the release of all hostages and a drawdown of Israeli military presence.

It is unclear at this stage whether Hamas has agreed to broader disarmament or the political exclusion terms contained in the full plan.

Trump ended his statement with a characteristically biblical flourish: “BLESSED ARE THE PEACEMAKERS!”, signing off as “PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”.

For now, both sides appear to have accepted the opening steps of what could be the most ambitious U.S.-brokered attempt to end the war in Gaza since it began.
