Explosive Revelation: Trump-Epstein Birthday Note Fuels Uproar as Oversight Committee Demands Records

A political firestorm reignited in Washington after House Oversight Committee Democrats released an alleged 2003 birthday letter from President Donald Trump to Jeffrey Epstein, which Trump has denied authoring and is now suing over.

The note, shared on social media on September 8, appears in a crude illustration of a woman’s body and ends with a cryptic message: “A pal is a wonderful thing – Happy Birthday and may every day be another wonderful secret.”

The letter, reportedly part of a book compiled for Epstein’s 50th birthday, has resurfaced amid a renewed push by lawmakers to release more records tied to Epstein’s criminal network.

Trump, who was once allegedly a close associate of Epstein, responded by calling the letter a “FAKE” and filing a $10 billion defamation suit against The Wall Street Journal, its reporters, and parent company for publishing the story in July.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the document, saying Trump did not sign or draw the image. Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich echoed the denial, posting images of Trump’s verified signature and declaring the birthday note to be “DEFAMATION.”

The controversy deepens as Trump’s own administration faces scrutiny for its handling of Epstein-related documents. A July 7 memo from the Justice Department claimed no “client list” had emerged in its review of Epstein’s materials, stating that further disclosure was “not appropriate or warranted.”

That conclusion has drawn criticism across party lines, including from Trump’s conservative base, prompting the administration to reconsider the release of some grand jury materials.

The House Oversight Committee subpoenaed Epstein-related records on August 5 and began releasing documents on September 2. Survivors of Epstein’s crimes rallied on Capitol Hill last week, demanding transparency.

One lawmaker reportedly left a meeting with victims in tears, highlighting the emotional toll of the long-delayed quest for justice.

Meanwhile, Ghislaine Maxwell--Epstein’s longtime associate now serving a 20-year prison sentence--told former Trump lawyer and current Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in a recent interview that she did not recall any submission from Trump for the birthday book.

Maxwell, under questioning, said she had helped coordinate the compilation but claimed not to remember any names or images, including the alleged Trump note.

Maxwell’s statements have been met with skepticism, given past accusations by the Justice Department that she perjured herself to shield Epstein and his associates. She is currently seeking to overturn her conviction in the Supreme Court.
