“We must manage AI’s growth responsibly. During this primitive stage, it is our duty to treat AI as we would our own children—empowering, but with watchful guidance,” said the First Lady.
“We are living in a moment of wonder, and it is our responsibility to prepare America’s children.”

This was the second convening of the Task Force since President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order on Advancing Artificial Intelligence Education for American Youth on April 23, 2025.
The initiative is central to the administration’s bid to maintain U.S. leadership in emerging technologies while securing the future workforce.
Presidential AI Challenge and Industry Partnerships
The meeting follows the First Lady’s nationwide launch last week of the Presidential AI Challenge, which invites students and educators from K-12 institutions to design creative AI projects.
Submissions are being collected through the federal portal, with participation already underway in all 50 states.

More than 135 corporate and nonprofit entities have made pledges to support the challenge, from mentorship and grants to curriculum design and teacher training.
Executives from leading technology firms and education platforms were present at the White House event on Wednesday, discussing ways to scale access to AI tools in public schools, particularly in underserved communities.
Topics included ethical AI frameworks, digital safety, and teacher training pipelines.
A First Lady Who Blends Technology With Human Values
Melania Trump has emerged as a key figure in shaping the White House’s human-centric AI vision, drawing on her prior advocacy work through the BE BEST initiative -- originally focused on online safety and youth mental health.

Earlier this year, she was instrumental in mobilizing bipartisan support for the TAKE IT DOWN Act, signed into law by President Trump in May 2025.
The legislation mandates rapid takedown of explicit and manipulated media involving minors, and is now seen as a global benchmark in AI-related child protection.
In a symbolic gesture that drew wide attention during President Trump’s diplomatic visit to Alaska in July, she also penned a personal letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling for a humanitarian path to peace in Ukraine.
The letter, which was hand-delivered by the President, marked a rare but resonant appeal to shared values amid global tension.

Her recent use of AI-generated narration in the audiobook version of her best-selling memoir “Melania” further underscored her public embrace of responsible tech, combining storytelling with innovation.
The First Lady closed the meeting by reiterating the administration’s belief that AI education is a national security and economic priority, not just a matter of curriculum design.
