They stressed that “terrorism is a global phenomenon and needs concerted action in a sustained and comprehensive manner,” highlighting the need to coordinate in multilateral fora including the United Nations, the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF), and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
The dialogue also covered domestic, regional, and global threat assessments, noting that instability and conflict in various regions serve as catalysts for terrorism and violent extremism.
Updates were exchanged on respective counter-terrorism policies, including efforts to curb terror financing, prevent online radicalisation, share designations of terrorists and entities, and assess risks posed by emerging technologies.
Both sides agreed to deepen cooperation and identified future areas of collaboration. The next meeting of the Joint Working Group will be hosted in New Delhi at a mutually agreed date.
