A Celebration Of American Excellence On The Global Stage: POTUS Trump Announces Sweeping Measures For LA 2028 Olympics
The 2028 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad, are set to be hosted by Los Angeles from July 14 to July 30, 2028. Speaking in an official address, U.S. President Donald J. Trump, both the 45th and 47th President of the United States, called the upcoming event a defining moment for the country, describing it as “a celebration of American excellence on the global stage.”
He affirmed that the federal government would mobilize every necessary agency to ensure the games are “safe, seamless, and historically successful.”

He further announced that he would sign an executive order establishing a federal task force dedicated to Olympic security and operations, bringing together agencies like the Department of Homeland Security, FBI, Department of Justice, and Secret Service.
“We’ll use every tool at their disposal to ensure a fantastic, safe, and beautiful event,” he said.
The Games are expected to feature over 11,000 Olympic and 400 Paralympic athletes, competing in 800 competitions across 49 venues. President Trump celebrated the magnitude of the event: “It’s the equivalent of 47 Super Bowls.
Between the LA Olympics and the FIFA World Cup, we have them both. It’s a great time to be a sports fan in America.”
The LA2028 Games will return the Olympics to some iconic venues. The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will host the opening ceremony alongside SoFi Stadium, which will also serve as the venue for Olympic swimming, making it the largest Olympic swimming venue in history with a 38,000-person capacity.
Other key venues include the Rose Bowl for football, Crypto.com Arena for gymnastics, and Intuit Dome for basketball. No new permanent venues are being built for the Games, with Los Angeles relying heavily on pre-existing or already planned infrastructure.
President Trump acknowledged the symbolic value of the Games occurring in the year of America's 250th anniversary. “It’s going to be a celebration of 250 years. I think there’ll be no other time we’ve had in our history like that,” he said.
In a pointed policy moment, Trump reiterated his support for the recent U.S. Olympic Committee’s decision to ban biological males from competing in women’s sports.
“The United States will not let men steal trophies from women at the 2028 Olympics,” he declared, calling the move “a big deal” and expressing frustration that it had not received more public applause.

The President also honored retired athletes who are now part of the LA28 Athlete Council and welcomed Olympic officials including Casey Wassermann and CEO Reynold Hoover.
In his remarks, Wassermann credited Trump’s administration for steadfast support, stating that without his early involvement “we wouldn’t be here.”
On the international front, Trump confirmed that more than 150 heads of state are expected to attend. He highlighted new sport additions like flag football and squash, and the return of cricket and baseball.
He noted that events would be spread throughout Southern California and even as far as Oklahoma City, which will host canoe slalom and softball.
Trump ended his remarks reiterating his commitment to safety and infrastructure in the lead-up to the Games.
Citing the fire-prone conditions of Southern California, he stated, “We’ll do anything necessary to keep the Olympics safe, including using our National Guard or military if we have to.”

The 2028 Summer Olympics will mark the third time Los Angeles has hosted the Games, after 1932 and 1984, making it the first non-European city to do so three times. IOC President Kirsty Coventry is expected to preside over the closing ceremony.
The Los Angeles Olympics will be the first Summer Games under her IOC presidency.
