From Florida, Pakistan’s Asim Munir Threatens Indian Dams, Issues Nuclear Warning — TOI Report

According to The Times of India’s Washington correspondent Chidanand Rajghatta, Pakistan’s de facto military ruler General Asim Munir has issued fresh threats against India from US soil, declaring he would destroy any dam that New Delhi might construct on the Indus River and warning of nuclear retaliation in the event of an existential crisis.

Speaking at an event in Tampa, Florida, Munir reportedly said: “We will wait for India to build a dam, and when it does so, we will destroy it with ten missiles.

"The Indus river is not the Indians’ family property… We have no shortage of missiles, Alhumdulillah.”

As per Rajghatta’s report, Munir also issued a broader nuclear threat aimed at the international community: “We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us.”

These remarks, widely circulated in Pakistani media but not independently verified, come during Munir’s second US visit in two months.

In June, he attended a White House luncheon with US President Donald Trump, where he proposed the American leader for a Nobel Peace Prize — a suggestion he repeated at the Florida event.

Ties with US Military Leadership
Munir’s visit to Florida coincided with the retirement ceremony of US CENTCOM Commander General Michael Kurilla, who on July 26 received Pakistan’s Nishan-e-Imtiaz for “pivoting American interest back to Pakistan” after two decades of strained ties.

Munir also met Kurilla’s successor Admiral Brad Cooper and US Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine. Analysts quoted in TOI note that this renewed Pakistan–US military engagement appears to have emboldened Munir’s rhetoric.

Link to Kashmir and Recent Clashes
Referring to the recent four-day clash with India, Munir framed the violence as a breach of Pakistan’s sovereignty, claiming “innocent civilians” were martyred, and reiterating that “Kashmir is Pakistan’s jugular vein.”

TOI’s Rajghatta reported that Indian accounts link the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack -- in which 26 civilians were massacred by Pakistani infiltrators -- to previous incendiary remarks from Munir steeped in religious exclusivism.

Expanded Threats Against India
Munir further warned that any Pakistani offensive would “start from India’s East, where they have located their most valuable resources, and then move westwards.”

He also mocked India’s ongoing trade tensions with Washington while boasting of Islamabad’s ability to balance ties between the US and China.

According to Pakistani military-linked websites cited in TOI’s reporting, Munir described the country’s recent “diplomatic and security victories” as stemming from “Allah’s blessing, national unity, visionary leadership, and the unmatched professionalism of our armed forces.”
