Trump Announces Sweeping Trade Pact Giving U.S. Unrestricted Access to Indonesian Market
United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced what he called a “landmark” trade agreement with Indonesia, granting the United States full access to the Southeast Asian nation’s domestic market for the first time in history.
In a statement posted to social media, Trump claimed that Indonesia—under President Prabowo Subianto—has agreed to open its entire economy to U.S. exporters, including farmers, ranchers, energy firms, and aerospace manufacturers.

According to the statement, Indonesia has committed to purchasing $15 billion in U.S. energy, $4.5 billion in agricultural goods, and 50 Boeing 777 jets.
In exchange, Indonesian exports to the U.S. will face a 19% tariff, while U.S. goods entering Indonesia will be exempt from both tariff and non-tariff barriers.
Trump emphasized that this deal gives Americans access to a consumer base of over 280 million people and imposes strict penalties if transshipment from other countries is detected.
While the White House branding appeared on the announcement, the current administration has not confirmed or commented on the deal.
Analysts say the agreement would mark a major rebalancing of trade in the Indo-Pacific, where China has long held economic sway.
