Indian PM Modi Rebukes Opposition Narrative, Counters Trump’s Ceasefire Boast With New Details in Fiery Lok Sabha Speech

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a blistering address in Parliament on Tuesday, accusing the Congress party of consistently undermining India’s armed forces and echoing Pakistan’s propaganda--even as the country mourned the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and lauded the military's rapid retaliation under Operation Sindoor.

Speaking during the Lok Sabha debate, Modi targeted both the Congress’ present leadership and its past legacy. “Opposing the military has been Congress’s old habit,” he declared.

“They sought proof after Uri, doubted Balakot, and now they question why Operation Sindoor ended. The country is laughing at them.”

The Prime Minister opened his address with a sharp rebuttal to claims that the U.S. played a mediating role in ending Operation Sindoor, which began after the April 22 Pahalgam attack killed 26 civilians.

“On the night of May 9, U.S. Vice President JD Vance tried calling me. I was in a meeting with my military chiefs. When I called back, he said Pakistan may launch a big attack. I told him: If Pakistan attacks, we will respond--harder and faster.

"No global leader asked us to stop. We stopped when our objective was achieved.”

That objective, Modi emphasized, was completed in just 22 minutes.

“We hit Pakistan’s terror infrastructure with precision. Our forces neutralized their threats, and we told their military: mission accomplished. Today, their airbases remain in the ICU.”

The Prime Minister used his speech to underscore India’s shift toward assertive deterrence and self-reliance. “From ‘Sindoor to Sindhu’, we acted decisively."

"Make in India weapons--missiles, drones--showed the world what self-reliance looks like. Our air defences shot down nearly 1,000 drones and missiles from Pakistan. Yet, here, some leaders still doubt our response.”

He reserved some of his sharpest criticism for what he called Congress’s “imported politics.” “While India becomes Aatmanirbhar (self-reliant), Congress depends on Pakistan--for narratives, for credibility, even for political oxygen,” he said. “Their remote control lies across the border.”

Responding to Congress Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s earlier claim that India lacked the political will to hit Pakistan’s military targets, Modi invoked the return of IAF pilot Abhinandan; and a BSF jawan captured during the recent flare-up.

“Some were whispering, ‘Now Modi is trapped.’ But both men returned with pride and honour. Because unlike them, we don’t play politics with our soldiers.”

In a pointed reminder of historical choices, Modi said Congress had long compromised national security--from the Indus Waters Treaty to calls to abandon parts of Jammu and Kashmir. “They gave away 80% of river waters to Pakistan."

"And when terror struck, they lit candles, hosted Mushairas, and questioned our martyrs.”

Modi ended his speech with a warning and a message of resolve: “The rules have changed. Pakistan knows it. Terrorists know it. And the world respects it. Our fight is not just military--it’s moral. And those who mock it, mock the nation.”
