Ahead of the bilateral talks, PM Modi said he looked forward to detailed discussions with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on “different aspects of India–Brazil ties.”

The two leaders are expected to focus on key areas including trade, clean energy, defence collaboration, and multilateral cooperation.

Wrapping up the Rio leg of his visit, the Prime Minister praised Brazil’s leadership of the BRICS grouping, stating that the Summit featured “extensive deliberations” and that the Lula government had contributed significantly in making the platform “even more effective.”

He also held bilateral meetings with leaders from several countries, aimed at boosting India’s global partnerships.

Upon landing in Brasília, PM Modi was welcomed with a spirited cultural reception by members of the Indian diaspora, underscoring what he described as their “deep-rooted connection to India.”

A notable part of the welcome included a performance by the Batala Mundo percussion group, known for promoting Afro-Brazilian musical traditions, especially Samba-Reggae from Salvador da Bahia, on the global stage.

The visit is part of India’s continued outreach in Latin America and reflects New Delhi’s growing focus on South-South cooperation.

The India–Brazil relationship, built on shared democratic values and development goals, is expected to gain further momentum through this high-level dialogue.

Modi’s Brazil tour comes at a time when both countries are looking to expand bilateral trade and align on global issues such as climate action, reforming multilateral institutions, and technology transfer — themes also echoed during the BRICS Summit deliberations.
