Pakistan, UK Agree to Boost Cooperation at UN Security Council
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy have agreed to strengthen cooperation in multilateral forums, particularly the United Nations Security Council, according to a report by Radio Pakistan, the country’s state broadcaster.
The development follows Lammy’s first official visit to Pakistan last month, during which he held talks with senior Pakistani officials. The visit came in the wake of heightened tensions between Pakistan and India following a recent military standoff.
Radio Pakistan reported that both diplomats exchanged views on expanding bilateral cooperation at the international level. They also agreed to remain in contact and meet again on the sidelines of upcoming high-level events at the United Nations in New York later this month.
Pakistan and the United Kingdom maintain cordial bilateral relations, encompassing cooperation across military, economic, and educational sectors, further supported by a significant Pakistani diaspora in the UK.
