Israel Launches Strikes on Iran’s Capital Targeting Nuclear, Military Sites

Iranian state television reported that Gen. Hossein Salami, head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, is feared dead, along with a senior Guard official and two nuclear scientists. The loss of such figures would mark a major blow to Iran’s leadership.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the strikes aimed to eliminate an "imminent threat" from Iran’s advancing nuclear program and signaled that further attacks could follow if necessary.

In Washington, U.S. officials emphasized they had no involvement in the operation. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed Israel acted independently and reiterated that the U.S. priority remains the safety of its personnel in the region, cautioning Iran against any retaliatory actions targeting American interests.

The strikes occurred shortly after the International Atomic Energy Agency censured Iran for non-cooperation, prompting Tehran to expand its enrichment capabilities.
