The resolution, introduced by Spain, urged all parties to halt hostilities without conditions and reiterated the demand for the immediate, dignified, and unconditional release of hostages held by Hamas and other groups.

The 193-member General Assembly adopted the resolution with significant support, securing 149 votes in favor. Twelve countries voted against the proposal, while India was among the 19 nations that abstained. Other countries abstaining included Albania, Cameroon, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Malawi, Panama, South Sudan, and Togo.

The vote comes amid ongoing international efforts to bring an end to the conflict and address the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.
