The visit began with a solemn tribute at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Indian Embassy—a gesture that showed India’s commitment to peace and non-violence, even amid heightened regional tensions. Ambassador Saurabh Kumar formally received the delegation on arrival and provided an operational briefing.
At the European Parliament, the delegation held discussions with key MEPs from the Delegation for Relations with India, the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), and the Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE). According to official sources at the Embassy of India to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union, the Indian side delivered a detailed briefing on the recent Pahalgam terror attack, the retaliatory Operation Sindoor, and India’s counterterrorism posture.
MEPs condemned the Pahalgam killings in clear terms, and expressed support for India’s right to self-defense and pursuit of justice.
The talks also addressed expanding India-EU counterterrorism cooperation, high-level diplomatic exchanges, and growing parliamentary engagement between both sides.
Earlier, the delegation met with members of the Indian diaspora in Belgium, who expressed strong solidarity with India’s principled stance and zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism.
“The diaspora is our amplifier on the global stage,” one delegate remarked, acknowledging their role in shaping perception and advocacy.
The delegation also held in-depth consultations with Brussels-based think tanks and members of the strategic community. There was notable appreciation of India’s calibrated military response and emphasis on rule-based global order, the Embassy of India to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union noted in a press statement.
