Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told India’s NSA Ajit Doval in Beijing that China and India must view each other as “partners, not rivals.”

The two sides met during the SCO Security Council Secretaries’ Meeting as global tensions escalate.

“Both countries are opportunities for each other’s development and pose no threat to one another,” China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said.

Wang Yi called for managing sensitive issues through “historical wisdom” to maintain border stability and build a win-win relationship.

NSA Doval underscored the need for stronger counter-terrorism cooperation to safeguard regional peace. Both sides discussed bilateral ties and global developments amid intensifying conflict in West Asia involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.

The dialogue shows cautious engagement between Asia’s two largest nations even as wider geopolitical risks rise.
