Turbulence Hits IndiGo Flight From Delhi to Srinagar, Pilot Declares Emergency

An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Srinagar with more than 220 passengers on board encountered severe turbulence on Wednesday due to bad weather, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency to air traffic control (ATC) at Srinagar Airport, officials said.

The incident occurred while flight 6E2142 was approaching Srinagar and flying through a hailstorm. The pilot issued an emergency call to ATC, but the aircraft landed safely and was subsequently grounded for inspection, according to the Airport Authority of India (AAI).

What happened during the flight was captured in videos shared online, showing visibly shaken passengers making religious supplications as the aircraft shook violently.

One passenger claimed the plane’s nose was damaged, though there has been no official confirmation of damage from the airline or authorities.

The incident raises concerns about flying conditions in the region amid changing weather patterns. No injuries were reported, and a technical inspection is underway.
