India Points to Pak Role, Pushes Anti-Terror Narrative in Southeast Asia With Indonesia Visit

In continuation of India’s global diplomatic outreach post the Pahalgam terror attack, a multi-party parliamentary delegation led by MP Sanjay Kumar Jha visited Indonesia. They succeded in delivering a strong message of zero tolerance for cross-border terrorism. The delegation's engagements showed India’s intention to shape global consensus against terrorism and counter misleading narratives promoted by hostile actors.

The delegation, according to the embassy, held wide-ranging discussions with leading Indonesian think tanks and academic institutions including the Indonesian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI), The Habibie Center, Indo-Pacific Strategic Intelligence (ISI), and University of Indonesia, among others. Indian representatives explained the strategic and moral rationale behind Operation Sindoor, conducted after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.

“The ultimate endgame is clear,” delegation members stated firmly. “There must be a complete cessation of terrorist activities by Pakistan, dismantling of terror infrastructure on its soil, and the vacation of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).”

Later, the delegation interacted with ambassadors and representatives from around 20 diplomatic missions in Jakarta, presenting India's position on terrorism and its measured response through Operation Sindoor.

The MPs stated that the counterterrorism strike was non-escalatory, targeted, and focused on terrorist infrastructure—not civilian populations. They reiterated that “terror and talks cannot go together” and invoked the April 25 UN Security Council Statement calling for united global diplomatic action against terrorism and its backers.

A significant engagement came through a high-level political meeting with leaders of Indonesia’s National Mandate Party (PAN), a Modernist Muslim political party. PAN leaders, including Vice Chairman and Deputy Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mr. Eddy Soeparno and Deputy Minister for Transmigration Mr. Viva Yoga Mauladi, expressed condolences for the victims of the Pahalgam attack. They conveyed solidarity with India’s stand against terrorism, emphasizing that neither religion nor race should be used to justify violence.

The Indian delegation's message received a strong reception. PAN leaders agreed on the need to challenge false narratives and reiterated that terrorism must be condemned unequivocally. The exchange reinforced the growing convergence between India and Indonesia on regional security and counter-extremism cooperation.

This mission is part of India’s multi-capital diplomatic campaign following the Pahalgam attack, with parliamentary delegations dispatched to 33 countries including Saudi Arabia, Latvia, Colombia, and Panama. These visits aim to present India’s perspective on terrorism, explain the rationale behind its counter-measures, and bolster international alignment on global security concerns.
